The Sigourney boys and girls basketball teams treated their home fans to a pair of South Iowa Cedar League wins and a proper senior send-off as they took care of HLV in a doubleheader sweep. The Savage boys were a 76-34 winner. Sigourney jumped on top with a 17-4 first quarter run and backed that up with 27 more in the second to lead 44-14 at half. The Savages won the second half 32-20. Sigourney out shot HLV 52-36% from the floor with 11 made threes. The Savages won the glass 35-18, assists 22-6, steals 17-7 and turnovers 19-10. Jordan Tremmel was the leader with 15 points, including four threes. Solon Yates and Brayden Wood had 12 points each and Ike Molyneux added 11 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals. HLV got a team high 13 points from Sean McCulloch in the loss. Sigourney was 14-4 after the win as HLV fell to 4-14.

The girls game was a 67-32 Sigourney winner. The Savages trailed 12-10 after the first, but took a 22-19 lead into the halftime break. Sigourney won the second half 45-13, including a 30-7 run during the third frame. The Savages won shooting 39-30%, rebounding 29-26, assists 17-10, steals 18-2 and turnovers 25-6. Brynn Clarahan’s brilliant 28 point, 12 steal, eight assist, six rebound night led the way. Bailey Gretter added 21 points. Emma Hall had 14 for the Warriorettes. Sigourney was 13-6 with the win, HLV was 6-12 after the loss.

The Savages honored their seniors with a ceremony during the night. They included Addy Fineran, Charli Smothers, Solon Yates, Ty Goldman, John Berg and Brayden Wood.
