The first legislative briefing of the session was held in Washington on Friday and the public brought up issues related to education, vaccinations, and water quality.

Iowa State District 92 Representative Heather Hora was in attendance.

The briefings are open to residents within Washington County. The first 20 minutes was a time for the legislators to update the public on the committees that they are a part of and what they have been working on on the hill. The second part of the briefing was a time for the public to ask their questions and make comments.

Hora is currently on the Agriculture, Education, Natural Resources and Veterans Affairs standing committees. She is also on the advisory council for Agricultural Education.

These sessions are the public’s chance to stay informed about legislative activities, ask questions directly of legislators, and discuss matters that are important to the community.

The next briefing is scheduled for March 6th at noon at Washington City Hall.
