A two-vehicle wreck in Kalona Tuesday night left one injured and multiple vehicles damaged.

At 6:37 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a head-on collision at the intersection of 1st Street and B Avenue in Kalona. According to a witness, a vehicle driven by Kendal Nollen of Iowa City was driving southbound on 1st Street, also known as Highway 1, when she started to turn east to go into the Kalona Auto parking lot. A second vehicle driven by Lloyd Miller of Riverside was traveling northbound on 1st Street near A avenue when Nollen crossed into the lane and hit Miller head-on. According to officials, Nollen did not see Miller’s vehicle until the collision.

The crash caused Miller to leave the roadway and go into Kalona Auto’s parking lot where four parked vehicles were struck and damaged.

Nollen was transported to the Washington County Hospital, and Miller was checked at the scene by the Washington EMS. Nollen’s vehicle was totaled, and Miller’s vehicle received disabling damage. No citations have been issued at this time.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Kalona Fire Department, Washington EMS, and Moore’s Towing.
