A Washington man turned himself in on a warrant last week related to felony charges of second-degree arson and second-degree burglary. An officer arrested 25-year-old Colby Miller for parole violations. The violation came after Miller was seen driving a vehicle while barred.

The original charges stem from incidents that took place in June of 2020. Officers with the Washington Police Department and members of the Washington Fire Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Taylor Street in reference to a vehicle on fire. A video recording system at a residence captured the incident. It allegedly showed two individuals near the car and then one of the individuals lit the car on fire. Miller was identified as a suspect in the arson because of a pre-existing problem he had with someone who lived at the residence.

Then, in March of 2023, the Washington Police Department responded to a report of an armed burglary in Washington. The caller stated that a male dressed in all black came into the home, pointed a gun at an individual, made a threat, and then left the residence on foot. Officers arrested Miller for burglary in the first degree, a class B felony, as well as dominion control of a firearm by a felon and going armed with intent, both class D felonies.

Miller was found guilty of both counts and sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation.

Miller is currently in custody at the Washington County Jail on no bond for the parole violation. A trial date has yet to be set.
