A trial has been set for a Cedar Rapids man who was arrested on multiple felony charges in early January after a car chase in a stolen vehicle ended in a crash in Louisa County.
On January 4th, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a pursuit of a silver Chevy Impala with no plates going speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour on Highway 218.
The vehicle lost control in Louisa County and caught fire. Officials arrested 30-year-old Victor Hughes of Cedar Rapids on the charges of felony eluding, and the serious misdemeanors of operating while intoxicated, driving under suspension, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with failure to obey a traffic control device, theft, and failure to maintain control and speed.
A trial has been set for March 24th in Washington County. Hughes waived his right to a speedy trial, and remains in the Washington County Jail.
