A Washington man charged with attempted murder has a trial date now set for April. Authorities arrested 29-year old Maicol Godoy in June after finding a man suffering a stab wound. Godoy has been charged with attempted murder, a class B felony; willful injury – causing serious injury, a class C felony; going armed with intent, a class D felony; and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Court documents outline that authorities responded to a report of a stabbing in Washington on the morning of June 5th. Allegedly the victim was stabbed twice in the back with a kitchen knife. The victim was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital.

A victim damages statement has been filed at nearly $13,000. A trial date of January 27th was previously set in Washington County, a new trial date of April 28th has been issued. KCII will bring more information as it becomes official. Godoy is being held at the Washington County Jail.
