The Sigourney Savage boys basketball team took care of the Highland Huskies Monday night in an All-KCII area boys matchup. The Savages defended their home floor in a wire-to-wire win, 88-39. Sigourney had a quick start, leading 22-8 after one quarter and outscoring the visitors 31-8 in the second to build a 53-16 halftime lead. A 17-6 run during the third for the Savages put the game away. Sigourney out shot Highland 56-32%, and hit 10 threes to six for the Huskies. The Savages won the glass 40-23, assists 22-6, steals 11-2 and turnovers 14-4. Solon Yates sizzled, leading the Savages with 28 points, including eight made threes. John Berg went double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Hunter Sellers added 14 points and Ike Molyneux had 12 points with six assists and four steals. For the Dogs, Bryce Hazelett turned in a big day with a 26 point, 10 rebound double double. The win moved Sigourney to 11-3 while Highland fell to 2-14.
