The Washington Economic Development Group partners with new businesses in Washington County to promote an environment of sustained economic development and has grant opportunities available to area students. WEDG supports those seeking to develop skills that will return to Washington County for employment, add value to the community, and support their mission of creating a thriving economy.

For 2026, WEDG will award four $1500 grants to eligible area students planning to pursue a trade-related degree at an Iowa community college or technical school. 

This grant opportunity is open to all seniors at high schools in Washington County Students must plan to attend an accredited Iowa community college or technical school. Applicants must intend to return to Washington County for employment after graduation. Grant applications are due March 13th.
