The Stewart Crescendos have been working hard rehearsing their winter musical to take the stage on Thursday to perform Penelope and The Pink Nose Puffin.
Director David Watson shares how they came up with the name for the ensemble, “We love the name, I just thought it was neat. The musical term for crescendo is to start small and get louder. I just thought it was kind of a catchy name, but also, just describing their progression as musicians.”
The Stewart Crescendos are in their second year. The group of second-graders at Stewart Elementary School began with 13 students and currently has 22. The hope is that this second grade choir will spark excitement for singers to continue onto the Lincoln Elementary choir, the Sunrise Singers, and continue on into middle school and beyond.
The free performance will take place at the Washington High School Performing Arts Center beginning at 6 p.m. The ensemble is co-directed by Brooke Anderson.
