Main Street Washington reports on a busy year as Executive Director Samatha Meyer gave an annual presentation to the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday with the annual report and fiscal year 2027 funding request.
Meyer stated what the county contribution does for the organization, “Currently the county’s eight percent contribution is part of a diversified funding model where over 55-percent of our budget is now generated through private donations and community driven fundraising. Our downtown is thriving with fewer storefront vacancies. A direct result of the revitalization of which the county has supported since 2008.”
Meyer also shared what Main Street Washington has achieved the past year, “In the past year, we have added vibrancy to the downtown with new banners, updated planters and seasonal decor. But our impact goes beyond the surface. We successfully secured a $100,000 Challenge Grant for historic restoration for the second year in a row. And awarded over $100,000 in DIG and Micro DIG grants to help our business owners improve their buildings.” DIG stands for Downtown Investment Grant.
The funding request from Main Street is in the amount of $6,834 which is the same amount that was requested the previous year. MSW is a non-profit community program established in 2008. They work alongside residents and businesses to improve and maintain the downtown district.
