
Three area boys wrestling teams were on the mat Saturday at the Belle Plaine Kurt Hinschberger Invitational.
Highland had the top local team finish, placing fourth with 129.5 points. Logan-Magnolia was the winner at 189.5. The Huskies had one champion with Rocky Hamilton finishing at the top of the podium at 138lbs with a championship match major decision over William Sankot of Belle Plaine. Other top performances for the Huskies included Tyler Pierson runner-up at 126lbs and fourth each for Jack Cave at 106, Brock Nebergall at 132, Brock Thomann at 144 and Caleb Wheeler at 165.
WACO was eighth of 12 teams with 89.5 points. Ian Maize was the Warrior’s lone champ, beating the field at 113lbs, including a 34 second title match pin of Brodie Johnsen of Logan-Magnolia. Other top performers were Rydge Sterna at 120lbs and Teage Pepper at 132 both third.
Lone Tree was 12th with 16.5 points. Top Lion was Tate Nelson sixth at heavyweight.
