The Washington Demons sought to defend their home mat Thursday, as conference foe Burlington came to town for a dual. The boys defeated the Bloodhounds 41-35, while the girls fell 66-18.

Winners in contested matchups for the Washington boys included Caden Greiner by technical fall at 138, Junior Valdez by pinfall at 150, Caden Heisner by pinfall at 157, Blaine Rees by pinfall at 190, and Rudy Wolfe by pinfall at 285. The Demons earned 18 points from forfeits, while Burlington earned 6.

Despite losing the dual, the Washington girls won half of the six contested matchups. Brynlee Flynn won by pinfall at 100, Nora Stoutner won by pinfall at 115, and Rhya Wellington won by pinfall at 140. Burlington brought a complete roster, winning a vast majority of their points by forfeit.

Due to anticipated extreme weather, the boys will not travel to Southwest Valley on Friday as originally planned. Instead, the boys will next compete at Louisa-Muscatine on Saturday. The girls will also make their way over to Louisa-Muscatine over the weekend.
