The Washington County Board of Supervisors acknowledged a grant given to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for their K9 fund.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit hosted a cornhole tournament fundraiser at Vista Park in Kalona in September. The Washington County Riverboat Foundation presented a $10,000 surprise grant during the festivities that day.
This inaugural event was an opportunity for Washington County to come together to raise funds for a new K9 dog to work alongside Deputy Ethan Hansen. All proceeds raised go directly to the K9 fund, covering the purchase of the dog, veterinary care, local and regional training, and ongoing expenses with maintaining a working K9 for the Sheriff’s Office.
The K9 department is run entirely on donations from the community.
