Next week marks Catholic Schools Week nationwide, and St. James Elementary in Washington will have daily activities for students, staff and the community to celebrate.

Festivities begin on Sunday, January 25th, with mass at 9 a.m. followed by brunch at 10 a.m. When school resumes on Monday, St. James alumni will visit and have a chance to speak with current students. Tuesday’s events will be celebrating staff and community. The student activity will be creating a terrarium. A children’s mass highlights Wednesday at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, St. James will hold a family night supper at 5 p.m. with Bible trivia to follow until 7 p.m. Finally, Friday’s activity is a wrap up event for a penny war fundraiser taking place all week.

St. James Principal Collin Stark spoke about the overall theme of the week and what he is looking forward to as his first Catholic schools week as principal, “This year’s theme is United in Faith and Community and it’s the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Gethsemane. I think the most I’m looking forward to is, I’ve met so many great people that, whether it’s our staff, our students, our families, the parishioners, I’ve met quite a few, but I know that I haven’t met everybody. That’s what I’m hopeful is to continue to meet more people in our community.”

St. James aims to use the week to celebrate its parish, alumni, community, students, families, and the world.
