
For the first time in 2026, the Highland girls basketball team was on the wrong end of an outcome, falling to the English Valleys Bears on the road 44-37. EV held an early advantage 16-14 after one quarter and the Bears were in the lead 24-21 at half. Highland dug in defensively, holding the Bears to four points in the third quarter to take a 29-28 lead going to the fourth. English Valleys closed 16-8 in the final period to take the lead back and score the win. The Bears out shot the Huskies 38-32%. The Huskies finished with 32 rebounds, 13 assists and steals and forced 14 turnovers. Kamryn Fink finished with a double double of 20 points and 11 rebounds to go with five steals and three assists. Bears leader was Addison Achenbach with 12 points.
Highland’s 13 game winning streak was snapped in the loss as they drop to 13-2 on the year. EV improves to 10-4 this season.
