Dangerously cold temperatures are expected later this week for the KCII listening area.
According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, another arctic cold front will push through the area Wednesday evening, bringing the potential for strong, gusty snow showers. Any accumulations look to be under an inch locally. These snow showers may impact travel with significant reductions in visibility for short periods of time.
Following the snow showers, strong gusty winds up to 40 miles per hour may persist for several hours on Wednesday night, leading to areas of drifting snow and significant visibility reductions in blowing snow. Bitter cold weather will set in from late Thursday through Saturday. Temperatures are expected to fall below zero, with dangerous wind chills likely at times.
If you must go outside, protect yourself from freezing winter temperatures. Wear layered clothing, mittens or gloves, and a hat. Outer garments should be tightly woven and water repellent. Mittens or gloves and a hat will prevent the loss of body heat.
Tune into KCII for all of your weather updates, including cancellations and delays.
