A wreck at the intersection of Highway 92 and Highway 1 north of Washington left four injured Sunday.

Just before 5 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple reports of a two-vehicle wreck involving a truck and SUV. Airbags did deploy. Weather conditions indicated blowing snow and active snowfall.

A 2013 Chevrolet Traverse driven by a juvenile from Wellman was traveling southbound on Highway 1 near the Highway 92 intersection. A 2009 Black Dodge Ram driven by Gerardo Reyes Garcia of Coralville was traveling eastbound on Highway 92 approaching Highway 1. The Dodge Ram did not yield the right of way and continued through the intersection. The vehicles collided, causing the Traverse that was proceeding southbound through this intersection to T-bone the Ram truck.

The collision totaled both vehicles and resulted in four people being injured, including two juveniles. All injured subjects were transported to WCHC by the Washington County Ambulance. Moore’s Towing towed both vehicles.

Garcia was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington Fire Department, Washington EMS, Washington Rescue, Washington Police Department, Washington County Ambulance, and Moore’s Towing.
