The Keota Eagle boys basketball team looks to get back into the win column tonight when they host the Highland Huskies for a non-conference battle on KCII.

Keota enters 9-4 on the campaign, 6-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League having dropped their most recent game 55-49 at English Valleys Friday. Jackson Vittetoe scored a team-high 16 points, while Ayden Galindo had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. This year, Keota scores 60 points per game and gives up 48, shooting 41% from the field, 29% from three and 52% at the line. The Eagles are top five as a team in Class 1A with 17-and-a-half assists per game. Individually, Vittetoe, Chase Haifley and Porter Cave score in double figures a night for Keota, with 15, 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Highland is 2-10 overall, 2-8 in the north division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference after a 66-53 loss on the road Friday at Columbus. Bryce Hazelett had a night for the Huskies, scoring a team-high 31. This season, Highland scores 47 points per game and gives up 68, shooting 38% from the field, 32% from deep and 61% at the line. The team owns the second most blocks per game in the north at three, with Jacob Schneider and Landon Roling denying over one shot a game. The individual leader is Roling, fifth in the north with 16 points per game and the division’s best free throw shooter percentage-wise at an 82% clip.

In the Varsity Bound era, the Eagles have never lost in eight matchups with the Huskies dating back to 2010. The latest matchup was a 80-46 Keota win last February.
