The Keota Eagle boys and girls basketball teams made quick work of Moulton-Udell on the road Thursday night in a pair of runaway victories.

The Keota girls opened with one of the most dominant performances ever on the KCII airwaves, taking down MU 64-6. After trailing 3-2 early, Keota scored 47 points in a row, to lead 27-3 after one and 51-4 at halftime, enacting the running clock after break. Keota won the second half 13-2, including pitching a shut out over the final eight minutes. Head coach Jeff Sprouse joined the KCII Postgame Show to talk about his team’s night. “What I like most is that we communicated and got off to a good start. We were aggressive on defense without fouling. We’ve been working on playing through contact and getting to the rim. I thought we did a better job with those things and finishing tonight than we have in the last couple of games. Everybody contributed tonight to what we’re doing. Every night you’re in the gym, everybody’s working hard. Tonight was a business trip. We turn around and play another game tomorrow that’s just as important as this game was. We don’t look ahead and I think we were pretty dialed in tonight.”

Keota won turnovers 42-7 and rebounding by 30. The defense allowed just two made field goals in the game. Eight different players scored for Keota, led by 15 points each for Cameron Haifley and Emily Conger. The win is the fifth-in-row for Keota to stand at 11-3. MU is now 3-7.

The boys game was all Keota’s from the start, 74-33. They led 24-4 after one, thanks to a 22-2 first quarter run. Keota’s lead stood at 40-18 at half. After an even third quarter that left Keota on top 52-32. The Eagles rolled 22-1 over the final eight minutes to enact the running clock in the fourth. Keota Eagle of the game Chase Haifley joined the KCII Postgame Show to talk about his team’s win. “Tonight we knew we had to come out and take of business and that’s what we did. We all work hard, we’re all one team, and as long as the ball is going in the hoop, everybody is happy for each other. I think alot of (our success) comes from playing as a team. For me and for everybody. Moving the ball, playing tough, hard defense, and that’s what’s really going good for us during our win streak.”

Keota won the glass by 21, turnovers 25-7 and made 11 threes. Eight different Keota Eagles scored with four in double figures, led by 19 for Haifley, 15 points from Blake Baker, 13 for Porter Cave and 10 for Brennan McGuire. Aspen Galindo and Rowen Horning had their first field goals of the year. The win is the sixth-in-a-row for Keota, who is now 9-3 as MU drops to 3-8. The Eagle boys and girls are on the road Friday at English Valleys.
