The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams started an important, busy week on the court Monday at home, hosting the visiting Williamsburg Raiders. The Golden Hawk boys were rivalry winners 70-49. Mid-Prairie used an 11-3 first quarter run to build a lead and go wire-to-wire against the Raiders, on top 14-10 after one and 35-25 at half. The lead was 11 going to the fourth and the Golden Hawks closed 19-9 to put the game away. Following the contest, Golden Hawk of the Game Kale Miller spoke with KCII Sports about the night for him and his teammates.

Miller had a season high 19 points, including three three point goals, five rebounds and four steals to lead a Golden Hawk trio in double figures. Bryce Henry knocked down 18 points, including four threes and had eight rebounds. Brooks Weber had 13 points, with four threes of his own and six assists. As a team, the Golden Hawks drilled 13 threes. Each team had 12 turnovers and Williamsburg won rebounding by 10. The Raiders were led by 11 points from Grady Wetjen. The Hawks are now 7-2 as Williamsburg falls to 1-10.

The girls side was a top 15 showdown in Class 3A with the fifth ranked Raiders downing the No. 13 Golden Hawks 61-23. Williamsburg started each of the first three quarters with runs, and would not trail on the night, up 14-5 after one, 31-12 at half and after a 24-4 sprint that lasted the entire third quarter, enacted the running clock at 55-16. The Raiders won the boards by 15, and turnovers 26-14. Taylor Sanchez led the Raiders with 21 points. The Hawks got seven points from Jeorgia Evans. Each team stood at 7-3 after Monday.
