Both Washington wrestling teams competed over the weekend, with several wrestlers finishing in top places.

The Washington boys competed at the Bobcat Jerry Eckenrod Invitational at Benton Community High School. At 144, Caden Greiner finished in fourth place, losing in the third place match by major decision. At 190, Blaine Rees finished in sixth place, dropping the fifth place match by decision. And at 285, Rudy Wolfe took seventh place, winning his final match via pinfall.

Meanwhile, the Washington girls competed at North Mahaska. The girls’ top finisher was Ryha Wellington at 145, finishing in second place, only losing in the championship by decision. Colbie Greiner finished third at 155, Nora Stoutner finished fourth at 120, Cherry Lindsey finished fifth at 110, and Brynnlee Flynn finished sixth at 100.

Both the girls and boys will travel to Mt. Pleasant this Thursday for duals.
