Friday Highland high school played host to high level girls wrestling with the Huskies home 2026 tourney.
Mid-Prairie had the highest local team finish, placing ninth of 22 schools with 79 points. Iowa City Liberty were the team champions with 238.5 points. The Hawks were led by a runner-up day for Lynde Cole at 135lbs. The Mid-Prairie pair of Austyn Sexton at 110lbs and Ellie Callahan at 190lbs each finished third.
Highland was 11th as a team with 75 points. Adley Sweeting was the overall winner at 120lbs. She was 4-0 including a title match pin of Kate Krause of EBF. Sweeting was also named Most Outstanding Wrestler. Chloe Sexton was runner-up for the Huskies at 190lbs and Maiya Singbeil was third at 140.
Lone Tree was 13th with 47 points. The Lions Olivia Magruder was the team-leader as runner-up at 130lbs. Teammate Faye Eyler was third at 235lbs.
Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union finished 14th as a team with 30 points. Brynn Pogmore’s fourth place finish at 235lbs was best for the ‘Cats.
WACO was 16th with 26 points. The Warriors Emorry Davis at 115lbs and Macy Bonebrake at 235 were each sixth to lead the way.
