The Washington Demon boys basketball team took a brief break from conference play Saturday, heading over to Tiffin for an afternoon matchup against Clear Creek Amana. In a tight battle, the Demons prevailed, 75-72.
The two teams were largely inseparable for all four quarters. Clear Creek Amana led 16-15 after the first, but the Clippers were unable to expand upon that lead in the second, heading into the locker rooms with a 32-31 advantage. They’d double that lead in the third, taking a 53-51 lead into the final quarter, but the Demons finally managed to overtake their foe in the fourth, eventually claiming a 3-point win.
Senior Rajan Roth had another stellar outing, recording 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Sophomore Tate Greiner picked up a season high 18, with all of his points coming from beyond the three-point line. Drew Conrad had 15, and Nic Stone scored 10 despite fouling out.
With the win, Washington improves to 7-2 on the season. They’ll return to conference play this Friday, as the team hosts Burlington as part of a boy-girl doubleheader.
