
Saturday, the Highland boys and girls basketball teams hosted Louisa-Muscatine in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The Highland girls saw their win streak stretch to double figures with a 53-31 win. Down 9-6 after one, the Huskies won every other quarter of the night, including 16-9 in the second for a 22-18 advantage at half, a 15-4 run in the third for a 37-22 lead after three and close on a 16-9 run in the fourth. The Huskies shot 37% to the Falcons 19%, they won rebounds 53-21, assists 16-10 and steals 18-14. The Huskies doubled down on double doubles with 13 points and 13 rebounds for Kamryn Fink and 12 points and 10 rebounds for Kinzie Ruess. The win was the 10th in a row for Highland to move to 10-1 on the year, while L-M drops to 7-3.
In the boys contest, the Falcons were an 82-69 winner. L-M was up 22-19 after one and 47-39 at half. The Huskies won the third 20-14 to get within 61-59, but could get no closer. The Falcons shot 52% to the Huskies 48%. Highland knocked down 12 threes. The Falcons won the glass 43-36. Highland won assists 20-19 and steals 16-10. Oscar Cline led L-M with a 34 point, 17 rebound double double. Highland had Jacob Schneider with 21 points, Landon Roling with 17 and Preston Smith with 14. Highland was 1-8 with the loss and L-M 2-7 after the win.
