The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team traveled to Durant Monday for a River Valley Conference quad. The Hawks beat the Tipton Tigers 45-30 and the home Wildcats 54-12, before dropping a 47-36 decision to Cascade. Six Hawks went 3-0 including Etta Bell, Austyn Sexton, Layken Lee and Ellie Callahan who each did it with two pins. Destina Moyle’s 3-0 day including a pin and a 4-3 decision. At practice Tuesday, Golden Hawks Ellie Callahan Layken Lee, Destina Moyle and Austyn Sexton talked with KCII Sports about what they liked from their team Monday. “Our team fought hard. Nobody gave up. Everybody kept pushing to the end. Our team performed really well. There was a great team environment. You get to be altogether at duals and watch everyone’s matches instead of at tournaments where it’s all day and spread out. Our team has really bonded well together.”

The Hawks are back on the mat Friday at Highland.
