
The Highland Huskies and Lone Tree Lions will meet in Riverside tonight for a doubleheader you can hear on KCII.
The girls game will lead off the night, with two teams at the top of the SEISC-North. Highland comes into tonight’s contest at 10-1 and on a 10-game winning streak, having not lost since their season opener against Keota. Sophomore Kamryn Fink leads a young and talented squad, averaging a double-double at 16.2 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game. Juniors Hailey Brun and Katelyn Thomann each add about 9 points per game, while freshman Kinzie Ruess picks up an average of 7.2 rebounds a night. The Huskies have outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points this season.
The Lone Tree girls are 8-3 this season, with a conference record of 6-2. The Lions have won their last five in a row. Senior Finley Jacque is the undisputed scoring leader of the team, averaging 19.5 points per game. Fellow senior Ava Christofferson is right behind her with 14.4 points per game. On the boards, freshman Adi Parizek pulls down about 7 rebounds a night.
Following the girls, the boys will take to the floor, with both teams trying to pick up a win to get momentum back in their favor. The Highland boys are 1-8 overall, and 1-6 in conference play. The Huskies average 46.4 points per game, but allow nearly 70 points per game. Junior Landon Roling and senior Bryce Hazelett average 16 and 12.2 points per game, respectively.
The Lone Tree boys, meanwhile, are 2-7 overall and also 1-6 in conference. The Lions average about 50 points per game, and allow about 60. The team is led in scoring by a trio of seniors– Reece Holbrook averages 13.3 points per game, Domonic Garcia averages 9.9, and John Daufeldt averages 8.6. Holbrook also adds 8.9 rebounds per game, coming just one rebound shy of averaging a double-double.
Tonight’s doubleheader starts with the Area Game of the Week Pregame Show at 5:30 p.m. with tipoff of the girls game following at 6 p.m. The boys will follow.
