
The Keota Eagle boys and girls basketball teams got the second half of the season started on the right foot, taking care of visiting Moravia in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday. The Keota girls started the night with a 55-25 victory. Keota won each quarter, opening the game with a 14-5 lead after one and taking a 30-17 advantage into half. The Eagles allowed just eight points after halftime to run away with the win. Keota shot 31% from the floor with 33 rebounds, 22 steals and 10 assists. Cameron Haifley paced Keota with 21 points and six steals. Jessalyn Aller had seven rebounds and Aller and Elyse Lyle three assists. Keota is 7-3 with the win while Moravia drops to 1-6.
The boys game was a 60-54 Eagle win. Keota was on top by a slim 12-11 margin after the first quarter and trailed 28-25 at half. The Eagles tied the game at 44 going to the fourth before making enough plays down the stretch to secure the win. Keota shot 36% from the floor with 36 rebounds, 16 steals and 15 assists. Jackson Vittetoe led scoring with 21 points, Chase Haifley had 16. He was the team leader with nine assists and seven steals, and Ayden Galindo had nine rebounds. The outcome put each team at 5-3 this year.
