A Burlington man previously arrested on a charge of third degree burglary has been arrested after escaping from a residential facility.

At 8:34 p.m. Saturday, an officer with the Washington Police Department reported being out with a subject wanted on a warrant from the Department of Corrections Community Placement Office Oakdale. Michael Jason Williams, 38, of Burlington, was arrested on a charge of escaping from a residential facility, on an original charge of third degree burglary as a habitual offender.

In 2018, Williams pleaded guilty in Muscatine County District Court following an investigation into a December 2017 robbery of a pharmacy in Wilton. Williams was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after 7.5 years.

As of Saturday evening, Williams is awaiting extradition.
