
Hunters in Washington County harvested over 1,400 deer in 2025, according to numbers kept by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
In 2025, the DNR indicates that 1,458 total deer were harvested within the county. That includes 753 does, 45 doe fawn, 525 antlered bucks, 121 button bucks, and 14 shed antler bucks. In addition, hunters harvested 84 turkeys, with 81 in the spring season, and three in the fall season.
In neighboring counties, Iowa County hunters harvested 1,285 deer, Johnson County harvested 1,833, Louisa County harvested 1,421, Henry County harvested 1,363, Jefferson County harvested 1,246, and Keokuk County harvested 1,085.
Overall, numbers are down in Washington County from 2024, when hunters harvested 1,622 deer and 102 turkeys.
