As we leave the pause of the holiday break, several southeast Iowa girls basketball teams and individuals find themselves among the top 10 statistically in the state in their respective classes.

In Class 3A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are second as a team with 19 steals and 16 assists per game. The Hawk’s 61 points per game are fourth best in 3A. Individually, Golden Hawk Morgyn Bender is ninth in Class 3A, shooting 56% from the floor.

In Class 2A, the Sigourney Savages are fifth in the state at 19 steals per game as a team. Individually, Brynn Clarahan leads the state with eight takeaways per night and her 22 points per game are sixth most.

The Columbus Wildcats post 18 steals per game as a team, 10th in 2A.

In Class 1A, the Highland Huskies lead the state with 47 rebounds per night. The Huskies 21 steals per game are second most, their 18 assists per game are fourth most and their 59 points per night are sixth. Kamryn Fink ranks third in 1A basketball with six steals per night.

The Keota girls are fourth in 1A basketball with 11 made free throws per game. Their 60% mark at the line is eighth best. The Eagles shoot threes at 28%, ninth best in Iowa. Their 18 free throw attempts per game are also ninth. Individually, Emily Conger is ninth at 44% from downtown.

Lone Tree’s Finley Jacque is ninth in 1A basketball individually at 20 points and five steals per game.

WACO’s Madelyn Farmer ranks 10th in 1A basketball shooting 55% from the floor.

Winfield-Mt. Union’s Madisen Kellogg is also 10th with her 82% mark at the free throw line.
