The Iowa State University Southeast Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm was awarded a $39,836 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.

This grant will fund remodeling and upgrading the meeting and office space at the office building, located near Crawfordsville. These facility improvements enable the organization to hold more, and larger, educational events and training.

The farm focuses on the research of crops, soils, and other studies. Researchers study corn, soybeans and small grains. Other studies focus on tillage methods, pest management, fertilizer and manure management and alternative cropping systems. Agronomists study nutrient requirements of area crops and apply nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and lime to observe crop yield response. Researchers also evaluate the effectiveness of tile drainage systems. The Iowa Nut Growers Association has established a demonstration site on the farm and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is evaluating native grasses at the site.

In 2025 WCRF awarded 15 spring grants, 19 fall grants, eight municipal, and four surprise grants totaling $6,466,279. Since 2006, WCRF has awarded over $76 million to local communities and non-profit organizations.
