The Keota Eagle boys and girls basketball teams came up short in both ends of a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader against Montezuma on the road.

The Keota boys fell in a close contest 64-56. The two teams were tied at 15 after the first quarter and Keota trailed 26-24 at half. Montezuma stretched the lead after break, winning the second half 38-32. The Braves out shot the Eagles 41-36%. Keota knocked down eight threes. The Braves won the boards 41-36 and turnovers 8-7. Keota took assists 17-13 and steals 3-2. Ayden Galindo went double double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jackson Vittetoe added 14 points. Brennan McGuire had seven assists. Keota dropped to 3-3 with the loss, Montezuma improved to 6-1.

The girls contest was a 53-25 Montezuma win. The Bravettes led 16-9 after one and 28-16 at the half. Montezuma used a 17-2 run through the entire third quarter to put the game out of reach. They out shot Keota 41-21%, won assists 8-5, steals 9-4 and turnovers 20-14. The Eagles won the glass 37-31. Cameron Haifley and Jessalyn Aller each scored six. Aller added 12 rebounds, Karley Greiner grabbed 11. Keota was 6-2 after the loss while Montezuma improved to 6-1.
