The Sigourney boys and girls basketball teams were winners over Iowa Valley in a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader. The Savage girls were a runaway winner with a running clock 65-30 to open the night. The Savages out shot the Tigers 34-28% and hit 10 three pointers as a team. Sigourney won assists 15-7, steals 22-5 and turnovers 31-9. Iowa Valley won the glass 47-29. Brynn Clarahan just missed a triple double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Bailey Gretter scored a dozen and Becca Gretter and Adalynne Tremmel had 11 each. Sigourney was 5-2 after the win as Iowa Valley remains winless.

The Savage boys took down the Tigers 66-53. Sigourney led 18-14 after one and kept their four point advantage at 29-25 at the break. The 18-9 third quarter gave the Savages some breathing room at 47-34. Sigourney out shot Iowa Valley 47-41%. The Savages knocked down 10 threes, won the boards 30-29, and assists 21-14. John Berg’s 20 points and eight boards led the way, followed by 17 points, including five threes from Solon Yates. Ike Molyneux added eight assists. Sigourney is 5-1 as Iowa Valley drops to 1-5.
