The Washington County Board of Supervisors returned to the topic of employee compensation this week.

After approving a 2.8% increase for employees and elected officials last week, the topic was back on the agenda Tuesday.

Board Chair Richard Young stated that this topic was being revisited due to receiving information from the County Attorney and other elected officials. A compensation report is required by law before any changes to salaries can be made. This report had previously been done by the compensation board, but last year was done by the Supervisors since the county discontinued their compensation board. Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. advised that he would put the report together and present it to the board at their next meeting.

Last year, the supervisors approved a 2.5% increase for staff and a 2% increase for elected officials. The item was tabled and will be discussed at the next meeting.
