2027-road-projects

The Iowa Department of Transportation has awarded over $9.7 million in funding to 28 different projects from Iowa’s Traffic Safety Improvement Program. These projects are slated for fiscal year 2027.

Several of those projects are located in southeastern Iowa. In Washington County, the DOT awarded $470,000 for work on county road W38. Work will include shoulders, center and edge rumbles, and 6” markings. The estimated project cost is $4,022,751. The county originally requested $500,000.

In Jefferson County, the City of Fairfield requested $212,630 for pedestrian improvements on Main Street and Burlington Avenue. That project has been fully funded.

And in Iowa County, $500,000 was requested by the county for work on a curve and intersection on county road F46, including realigning, widening, center and edge rumbles, and a safety edge. The full amount requested was given. The total estimated project cost is $813,894.

Iowa’s Traffic Safety Improvement Program was created in 1987 for the purpose of increasing traffic safety on all of Iowa’s roadways.
