A steady-presence in the WACO Warrior cross country program is receiving recognition for his work on the course and in the classroom. Warrior senior Tristian Luitjens has been named Class 1A Academic All-State by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
A four-year-letterwinner for the Warriors, Luitjens was a key part of WACO’s first ever boys Southeast Iowa Superconference championship squad. He finished 37th at the SEISC Championship Meet at Hillcrest Academy. Luitjens was 20th at the State Qualifier meet at Pekin.
In order to be named Academic All-State, a runner must be a senior, having a 3.8 cumulative GPA or higher and finish in the top 30 at their State Qualifier meet.
