The Highland girls wrestling team started the year Monday with a dual tournament at Cardinal. The Huskies dropped their three team contests on the night, falling to Knoxville 54-18, the home Comets 42-22 and Keokuk 31-30 on criteria.
Against the Panthers, winners in contested matches included Adley Sweeting by fall at 120 and Maiya Singbeil by fall at 145. Against the home team, Sweeting scored a fall at 120 and Singbeil and 8-0 major decision. Against the Chiefs, Marley VanSchoyck got a fall at 140 and Singbeil completed the undefeated night with her second pin. The Chiefs broke the 30-all tie with tiebreaker criteria F, as they allowed just three forfeits to the Huskies four. Highland stands at 0-3 on the dual season.
