A second motion to suppress was heard on October 9th related to a Louisa County man facing 51 felony charges of possessing child pornography. Curtis Canny was charged in March with 41 felony counts, following 11 charges filed in January.
The motion to suppress was related to items found on phones discovered when law enforcement executed search warrants related to Canny’s stepson, Coletrane Sipes. Sipes filed a written plea of guilty of aggravated misdemeanor stalking this fall. Canny and Sipes resided at the same address at the time of the investigation.
Records indicate a phone allegedly belonging to Canny was found in a common area of the home and recovered by authorities, who then obtained another warrant to search the electronic devices. Child pornography images were discovered.
According to court records, pretrial conferences for Canny and jury trials should be continued at a later date. Previously a jury trial had been scheduled for August 12th.
KCII will bring more information as it becomes official.
