
The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves football team was recognized by 8-man District 5 with nine spots on All-District squads.
Four WMU players were named first-team including senior Max Edwards. Offensively he had 46 catches, 580 yards and eight touchdowns. On defense he added 36 tackles, 11 for loss and a fumble recovery.
Senior Grant Anderson was a first-team choice on the line. He was part of a group that helped the Wolves score 29 touchdowns and average 24 points per game.
Junior Tayson Samuels was a first-team all-district selections. He ended the year with 881 all-purpose yards, 53 catches, 615 yards and three touchdowns. On special teams he average 22 yards per kick return and defensively included 29 tackles and a pair of interceptions.
Junior Cody Milks was a first-teamer on special teams and second team quarterback. He had 18 total touchdowns, 13 through the air on 117 completions and 1,404 yards. As a punter he averaged 36 yards per kick and on defense he chipped in 23 tackles.
Second-teamers included senior Nick Sparrow with 57 carries and six rushing touchdowns with 34 tackles on defense.
Senior Gabe Cummings was second-team on the line as part of a team that posted 2,800 all-purpose yards and added 12 tackles on defense.
Junior Wyatt Palmer was a second-team defender with 13 tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries.
Two sophomores earned Honorable Mention spots. Colin Anderson led the Wolves with 44 tackles, five for loss on defense and added 19 catches, 196 receiving yards and two scores on offense. Kade Sweezer was Honorable Mention with 46 carries, 187 yards and three touchdowns on offense with 16 tackles on defense.
The Wolves ended the season with a 2-5 overall record.
