The Columbus Wildcat football team put together a solid season in Class A District 5. The ‘Cats came away with 12 All-District selections.

Senior Elliot Wessley was a first-team defensive choice. Wessley had a team best, 41 stops, eight for loss. He ended with 12 catches, 100 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Drew Totemeier was also a defensive first-teamer. He had 40 tackles, eight for loss, with a fumble recovery.

Senior Kason Dopler was a first-teamer on defense. Dopler went for 17 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception on defense with a pair of catches for 24 yards on offense.

Senior Gabe Zuniga was a first-team kicker. He led on special teams with a 14 of 16 season on PATs, and three of five year in field goals with a long of 33.

Junior Lamar Ceant was a first-team pick. He finished with 451 all-purpose yards, including 242 receiving on 17 catches with two touchdowns. He averaged 15 yard per kick return on special teams. Defensively, Ceant had two picks, 16 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Senior Tyson Kaalberg was a second-team selection on offense with a team-high 825 all-purpose yards, 468 rushing on 62 carries with two touchdowns. On defense Kaalberg had 30 tackles and finished averaging 19 yards per kick return on special teams.

Senior Rey Resendez was a second-team defensive selection with eight tackles, two interceptions and a rushing score.

Junior Fritz Figaro was a second-team pick. Figaro was a  member of an offensive line that helped the Wildcats score 16 touchdowns on the year, averaging 17 points per game.

Junior Fritz Massillon was second-team defense. He had 11 tackles and an interception as a defensive back.

Senior Trevor Phillips was the honorable mention quarterback. He finished 62 of 117 passing for 649 yards four touchdowns and four interceptions. Phillips added two scores on the ground.

Junior Ronaldo Villegas was honorable mention for the defense, finishing with 16 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Sophomore Antelmo Amigon was honorable mention as a member of an offensive line that paved the way for 2,300 all-purpose yards.

The Wildcats ended the year with a 3-3 mark in district, qualifying for the playoffs, and a 3-6 overall record.
