Three Washington County towns had out of the ordinary results on election night.

The City of Brighton had two at-large council seats for residents to vote on. On the ballot were Gerald Cutler and Kenny Shearon. The results for the at-large race were 90 votes for Cutler, 33 votes for Shearon, and 99 write-in votes. There were two write-in candidates Kathy Rich received 38 write-in votes, and Doug Craff received 28 write-in votes. The vote totals make Rich the second person to fill the at-large seat. Cutler and Rich will be sworn-in to the council.

The Crawfordsville City Council saw a tie on election night. According to Washington County Auditor Tammy Stewart, the Board of Canvassers, which is typically on the Board of Supervisors, will literally draw the name from a “hat” from the two that are tied for the 3rd seat. The people filling the seats will be Jordan Hill, Aaron Richardson, and either Tom Gerot or Sheila Baker. The name will be drawn on Wednesday at the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting that begins at 9 a.m.

The City of Coppock had an interesting situation with no one on the ballot for the four at-large council seats or mayor. The town straddles three counties – Washington, Jefferson, and Henry. For Washington County residents, there were two write-ins for mayor in Coppock, Dustin Palmer received 2 write-ins, and Ryan Walker received 1 write-in vote. For the council seats Washington County residents only had two write-ins.        Dustin Palmer received 3 write-in votes, and Dakota Knerr also received 3 write-in votes.

Jefferson and Henry Counties will also have results for this race, with Henry County being the control county. More information will be available after each respective county holds their canvasses of election results.

These results are all unofficial until the canvassing takes place.
