
A single-story house caught fire Sunday night in Washington.
Around 7 p.m. emergency officials received a call that a structure was fully engulfed in flames in the 200 block of McCreedy Drive in Washington. The caller reported flames coming out of the windows shattering them. Officials stated the house at 202 McCreedy Drive sustained significant damage, and they believe the cause of the fire to be an overheated extension cord. No injuries were reported.
Responding to the call was the Washington Fire Department, Washington EMS, Washington Rescue, Kalona Fire Department, Kalona Rescue, Ainsworth Fire Department, Washington Police Department, Washington EMA, and Alliant Energy.
The fire was extinguished around 8:30 p.m.
