
The results are in for the City and School elections in Washington County. The City of Washington had two contested races with Elaine Moore retaining her at-large seat receiving 344 votes (44.1%) and Susan Carroll taking ward 4 council seat receiving 104 votes (58.43%).
The EMS essential service tax levy measure has passed with 68.91% approval.
The Mid-Prairie School Board election had five names on the ballot for three positions at-large. The top three vote-getters were Jed Seward with 683, Kirah Johnson with 488, and Jake Snider with 454.
Kalona had four candidates vying for three seats on the City Council. Those securing council seats include Joe Schmidt with 266 votes, Taylor Yeggy-Berg with 267 votes, and Eileen Beran with 243 votes.
Riverside had four candidates running for two City Council seats. Chris Grinstead secured a seat with 168 votes, as well as Tom Sexton with 161 votes.
The Riverside public measure passed, receiving 266 yes votes to 90 no votes. The measure approves an $8 million general obligation bond which will go toward a new wellness center in the city.
Ainsworth had a contested mayoral race with Derrick Stewart getting 36 votes over Troy McCarthy who had 24 and Ronald Greiner who had 27. The three Ainsworth City Council seats go to Timothy Bean, Jared Waters, and Brittany Thompson.
The Crawfordsville City Council results include Jordan Hill with 34 votes and Aaron Richardson with 27 votes. Tom Gerot and Sheila Baker each received 26 votes – tying for the third seat on council. KCII News is following up with election officials on how the third council seat will be awarded.
Election results are unofficial until a canvassing by the Washington County Board of Supervisors.
