Case Field is the place to be tonight when the Washington Demon football team takes the field against conference and district rival Fairfield on homecoming night in a game you can hear on KCII.

Washington is 3-2 overall and an early 0-1 mark in district play after last week’s 44-20 road loss to Mount Pleasant. Kael Williams was again the heartbeat of the team on the offensive side, rushing for all three of Washington’s touchdowns on 16 carries, earning 89 yards along the way. He also completed 10 passes for 141 yards, with Nic Stone hauling in seven of those passes for 97 yards. Blaine Rees led defensively with nine stops. This year, Washington scores 24 points per game, gives up 32, and averages 270 yards a night, 174 on the ground. Williams is the passing leader with 37 completions for 462 yards and three TDs with six picks. He has 573 rushing yards with 10 rushing touchdowns to lead the team. Stone is his favorite target with 15 receptions for 169 yards and a TD. Rees leads in total tackles with 52, good for second most in Class 3A. As a team, the Demons have seven takeaways, and are top 10 in 3A in three different stat categories.

Fairfield is 1-4 overall and is also 0-1 in district play after a crushing 77-0 loss at home to No. 1 Solon last week. Jackson Hollander went one for four with his lone pass to Ethan Bisgard for 11 yards. Bisgard also had 10 carries for 63 yards. Brady Wigle had five-and-a-half tackles. This season, Fairfield puts up 28 points per game, gives up 42, and averages 314 yards per game, 268 on the ground. Through the air, Voss Richardson is the leader with 218 passing yards on 14 completions and 4 touchdowns. Bisgard is the top rusher and receiver with 421 rushing yards on 62 attempts and six scores, and eight catches for 86 yards. Zandrik Allison has three touchdown grabs. Bisgard is the tackles leader with 30-and-a-half, including a team-high in TFLs with four. The Trojans have two takeaways as a squad, and are top 10 in 3A in four different statistical categories.

Washington head coach Kelly Williams joined KCII Sports live on the Community First Credit Union postgame show last week after the loss to the Panthers to preview his team’s matchup with Fairfield.

“I think [more than] anything [we’ve] just got to come back to work. Correct the Demons,” Williams said. “Don’t worry about what Mount Pleasant did or worry about what Fairfield did. We just have to fix the Demons and the rest of it will take care of itself.”

The Demons own a commanding lead in the all-time series with Fairfield 12-1 dating back to 2012 in the Varsity Bound era. They have won four of the last five in the series, including last season’s 34-26 slugfest.

The Demons are taking the field tonight for the first time without Senior Carson Ryan, #80, who passed away last weekend following a hunting accident. He has been part of the Demon football team playing wide receiver and defensive back. The school district described Ryan as “a truly kind, thoughtful, and caring presence.” Community support for his family has been felt throughout the week, and the support has poured in from across southeast Iowa with multiple school districts wearing black and orange in tribute. Fairfield also shared a statement of standing with Washington during this difficult time. He was crowned 2025 Homecoming King as part of Spirit Night Thursday.

You can hear tonight’s homecoming battle between Washington and Fairfield on FM 106.1, the KCII1 App and streaming online at KCIIRadio.com beginning with the La Morenitas pregame show at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff between the Demons and Trojans at 7:30 from Case Field in Washington.
