The Washington County 4-H County Council had a busy weekend giving back to the community.

On Saturday morning, the council prepared Washington’s community meal at the Saturday Kitchen. This is a weekly free meal for anyone to gather, eat and connect with fellowship and food. Each week is sponsored by a different community group or business. Almost 80 meals were served and 30 to-go meals were prepared. The Saturday Kitchen is hosted by the United Presbyterian Church.

Later that afternoon, as a part of their Day of Service, members packed 100 “Stay Safe, Take a Break” harvest bags to deliver to farmers working in the fields. These bags are filled with safety items and snacks to remind farmers how important it is to take breaks during long hours of work and also to take the time to be safe.

Everyone is reminded to stay safe during this harvest season to give farm equipment space on the roads. Many area businesses donated to this project.
