Election day is November 4th, and the following candidates are running for office in the city of Washington:

Four city council seats are on the ballot, incumbent mayor Millie Youngquist, and Ward 4 councilor Fran Stigers and at-large councilor Elaine Moore are running for reelection. Current Ward 2 council member Ivan Rangel is not seeking re-election. Jennine Wolf is running unopposed for the Ward 2 seat. Susan Carroll is running for the Ward 4 seat. Gary Steven Howard, and Douglas Hoyle are adding their names to the ballot in the at-large council race. 

City of Washington polling locations will be used for both the city and school board elections. Washington Wards 1 and 2 will be voting at the YMCA at 520 West 5th Street. Washington Wards 3 and 4 will be voting at the United Presbyterian Home at 1203 East Washington Street. Absentee voting begins October 15, both in the county auditor’s office and by mail. The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 20.

The voter registration deadline is October 20th. Voters may also register after this date or on the day of election by providing proof of identity and residency. Polls will be open on November 4th from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
