The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with Community and Family Resources at their Tuesday meeting. The agreement states that Washington County will pay for the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level 3.7 detoxification for Washington County residents after all other available benefits and payments sources have been exhausted.
Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. spoke of the agreement details, “Community and Family Resources operates several clinics around the state. They operate services in conjunction with Guidelink, which is up in Iowa City on the south side. They are open to the public. So, what they have discovered is that some of the treatment that is provided, isn’t, they can’t recover any of the cost through either insurance or directly from the individual. They gave the example from the year 2024, there were two individuals from Washington County that voluntarily went up for treatment, and they could not pay for it. The CFR is asking if Washington County would utilize some of our opioid [settlement] money, to account for their shortage in payment.”
The Supervisors approved this agreement unanimously, with the estimated cost being just under $4,000. The agreement is valid from July 1 of this year to June 30th of 2026.
