Coming off of the best season in program history, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team has earned a spot in the first Class 3A poll of the year from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Hawks check in at No. 4 in 3A, the highest position the program has ever held in any poll.
In 2024, the Hawks won their first outright conference championship since 2004 and ended a 20-year state tournament drought. The Golden Hawks were ranked in the top 10 of Class 3A in 11 different stat categories. They return All-Conference choices Jovi Evans, Harper Pacha and Jeorgia Evans. Pacha and Evans were both All-District. Evans was also RVC Player of the Year and All-State a season ago. Mid-Prairie’s coaching staff was named RVC and IGCA District staff of the year. The Hawks won a school record 33 matches.
Ahead of Mid-Prairie in the rankings are No. 3 Davenport Assumption, No. 2 Carroll Kuemper Catholic and No. 1 West Christian. The Hawks open the season Thursday in a tournament at No. 8 Mt. Vernon.
