As of August 19th a total of 1,375 confirmed measles cases were reported in the United States. This number has risen by 56 cases in one month.

Measles is highly-infectious and an airborne illness. It can remain infectious for up to two hours on surfaces and in the air after an infected person has left an area.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends two doses of the MMR vaccine to protect against measles. Symptoms can include fever, cough, red watery eyes, white spots in the mouth, and a flat red rash. Those seeking medical assistance who think they may have been exposed should call the medical facility ahead of entering.
