A discussion on the usage of the right-of-way for Brava Roof Tile for a truck staging lane was held Tuesday at the Washington City Council meeting. The synthetic composite roof tile manufacturing facility is located at the corner of South 9th Avenue and Tyler Street. There have been multiple complaints of traffic congestion from neighbors, and residents that use 9th Avenue. Trucks going to Brava sometimes stop there before unloading, and when turning in, can cause issues.

City Administrator Joe Gaa gave more background on the matter, “The only reason why this was brought to your attention, is because they will hook onto (East) Fillmore (Street) which is within the right-of-way. And so, if it’s going to be in the right-of-way we want to get your approval on that. But again, this would take the trucks they would come in off of Airport Road, access Fillmore, they would come across and stage, and then when they are there they would get called and they get summoned up to the loading dock. So it takes them off the street.”

Gaa went on to state, “I think we have to remember that we all have to be good neighbors. We’ll bring them to the table, but we can’t, you know, lash them when we bring them to the table and get to them. Because some of this stuff they don’t have to ask our permission for and the fact that we got the door open, we want to keep it open.”

The discussion was tabled pending a private discussion with Brava and some of the council members to discuss the matter. No representative from Brava was present at the meeting.
